The Monastery in Sofia is very well placed to take advantage of ski and snow boarding on Mount Vitosha. The gondola to the base station is literally on your doorstep and runs every day except Monday during the ski season which lasts until April.
Vitosha has at least two very good English speaking ski schools.

 The ski runs of Vitosha are located between 1650 and 2290 m above sea level.
The highest ski point is Cherny Vrah peak (2290 m ) where many runs of various difficulty start.
